Sony Experia M Review and Specifications

Sony has recently launched the Xperia M, which is a device that provides a serious value for money. The phone comes with a dual core processor and 1 GB of RAM, making it one of the cheapest dual core devices with 1GB of RAM, among the popular international manufacturers.

The Sony Xperia M, which was unveiled in June, is now available for pre-order. The mid-range smartphone can be pre-ordered from any online shopping site flipkart for Rs 12,990. According to these sites, the handset will be available from 18 August.
Very similar in specs and seeks to Xperia L, M is aimed squarely at those seeking an interpreter budget. It has a 4-inch FWVGA (854 x 480) display panel with a scratch-resistant glass. As usual, you will find multi-colored LED lights below the screen. OmniBalance design features Sony Xperia M, which the company claims helps the daily handling of the device. OmniBalance design was also featured in the Xperia Z, ZL and Z. tablet
In terms of processing power, the Xperia M seems well equipped for a mid-range smartphone. It has a dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon SoC inside, coupled with 1GB of RAM. There is a meager 4 GB of internal storage, but there is also a microSD slot with support for cards up to 32GB in size.
The main camera is a 5 megapixel sensor Exmor RS on the back with an LED flash. Sony has also equipped the M with a front-facing camera, but surprisingly there is no mention of the number of megapixels or any other details. Software-wise, the Xperia M should be a capable smartphone with the addition of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. There is no support LTE, but HSPA + connectivity is more than enough for a smartphone in this category. For quick sharing, there is Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.

Camera and internal storage

The phone has a standard set of cameras in a 5MP rear and VGA front. Although the budget of many quad core devices cost about the same amount come with 8MP rear camera, you can expect the 5MP on the Xperia M is as good (if not better). This is because the quality of the image depends not only on the resolution, but many other factors, including the opening, the sensor quality, etc.

Sony could include a 1.3MP camera instead of a VGA front, but given the other impressive features of this device, we will take a VGA any day. And, in practice, a VGA unit will probably be enough for video calls, unless it is very dark.

Like most other devices in its range, the Xperia M has 4GB of onboard storage. You can expand this up to 32GB via via a microSD card.

Processor and battery

Xperia M shines in this department. The device sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset MSM8227 S4 Plus, which features a dual core processor clocked at 1 GHz on it. Not only the phone carry a powerful processor, but it also comes with 1GB of RAM which is really a plus point for a device from a reputable manufacturer like Sony.

Why do we say this? Because most of the other devices such as advance Galaxy S, HTC Desire X, etc., which are valued at about the same mark or more, come with 512MB or 768MB of RAM. Sony is bound to catch some eyeballs with this wise decision to include 1 GB of RAM.

Some might feel the phone comes with a battery low power, 1750mAh rating. However, with moderate resolution display, the phone could probably take you through a day without much hassle.

Display and features

The unit comes with a screen average of 480 x 854 pixels spread across a 4-inch screen. You can not expect the device to have a playback of HD quality but for the price, you can not complain.

This display will be powered by an Adreno 305 GPU, which again, is not the high-end GPU, but for the device, taking account of the category to which it comes in.

The unit comes with a set of standard connectivity including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, 3.5mm audio jack, etc., and also has the necessary sensors such as proximity sensors, accelerometer and compass.

Comparison

There are some features dual core midway on the market, but few of those offers 1 GB of RAM. Some phones domestic manufacturers based 1GB of RAM, however, in most cases carry Mediatek processors that are not up yet Qualcomm.

However, some devices that can provide direct competition for the Xperia M Huawei Ascend P1 are ZTE Blade C, and a host of other domestic appliances manufacturers.
